TYPE 2 STANLEY No.72 CHAMFER PLANE with PERFECT ROSEWOOD c.1886-1904
From my collection a beautiful Type 2 Stanley No.72 chamfer plane with 98% Japanning. Plane has been washed and waxed. Rosewood knob and tote are solid and without repairs, major scratches or toolbox dings. Tote has a barley noticeable bead, but it's there (See Pic #11). Only apology is the bottom has pitting damage on the right rear edge (See Pic #9). Its 4-3/4 inch iron is well stamped with the early three line t...rademark with 1885 patent date. A copy of John Wells' Type Study; "The Stanley Chamfer Plane No.72, 72-1/2: 1885 to 1935" will be included for the new buyer. A beautiful Stanley No.72 for your collection. Thanks for looking...
