First Edition Vintage UNIROYAL 1967 Naugahyde Monster and Magazine Advertisement. Very rare to find a Nauga Monster with the original Naugahyde/Uniroyal stamp. Don’t be fooled by imitations/knock offs, this is an original. Pay attention to the cut of the eyes on the left side. It should be facing down. A knock-off has the pattern facing up. Also, look at width of the body, if it appears extra wide, it is likely a knock off, or if the arms are super short, again likely a knock off. If... a Nauga has a gold stamp by its foot, it IS an original. Original Nauga Monsters were not sold, but were used as an advertisement/promotional item for the Naugahyde Uniroyal salesperson to give to the stores or industry personal, not to the general public. A company in Oregon did start to make knock-off's for the general public in the 70's to include "Make Your Own Nauga Kit". My monster measures 22 inches wide from arm to arm and 15 inches in height. There are some loose threads near her feet which is due to her age, please see pictures. Also included is a vintage ad from 1967 “Invite a Nauga To Your Next Party” -measurements: 10x13 -Condition is used for both times. This is a wonderful gift to give your daughter or granddaughter or yourself. Just think in another 25 years this will be 75 years old! Truly a collectible!
