Hollywood CA: c.1940s? Postcard LITTLE HUNGARY RESTAURANT BAR F.H. Horvath Disney Illustrator I believe that this was signed by the owner of the restaurant, written to "Joe" with the word "szeretettel" which is a Hungarian signoff meaning "with love". But I cannot make out the name signed, nor can I figure out who owned this restaurant in the early years. Opened in 1937. Condition of this original vintage postcard is Good, with handling along the edges as shown. Nice illustration si...gned "F. H. Horvath." Ferdinand Huszti Horvath, an established European artist who was hired by Walt Disney in the mid-thirties to provide ideas and concept sketches for his films. From the summer of 1934, he was associated with the project of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) and made many preparatory works including studies of characters and scenery but also does a similar job on the short films of Mickey Mouse and Silly Symphonies. In 1938, he left Disney after participating in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He joined Columbia Screen's Screen Gems studio and worked on Krazy Kat and Color Rhapsodies. After the Second World War, he moved with his wife to Hollywood where they operated a wooden toy shop, also selling chinaware and birdcages. 190722 / 9655 R7/23/2019 AUS

EXCELLENT (EX): Like mint in appearance with no bends or creases, or rounded or blunt corners. May be postally used or unused and with writing and postmark only on the address side. A clean, fresh card on the picture side. VERY GOOD (VG): Corners may be just a bit blunt or rounded. Almost undetectable crease or bend that does not detract from overall appearance of the picture side. May have writing or postally used on the address side. A very collectible card. GOOD (G): Corners may be noticeably blunt or rounded with noticeable slight bends or creases. May be postally used or have writing on address side. FAIR: Card is intact. Excess soil, stains, creases, writing, or cancellation may affect picture.
