Vintage Baby Crib QUILT 48 x 48 Hand Embroidered Nursery Rhymes 1930 - 50 Coverlet
The theme of the quilt is nursery rhyme characters.... embroidered in BLACK THREAD on a muslin, off-white cotton fabric....alternating with solid pink and baby-blue square blocks of fabric.
My photos do not reflect the crispness of the colors - off-white muslin / light-pink / baby-blue. You won't be disappointed when you are holding this quilt in your hands.
This is a light-we...ight quilt with no filler or blanket in the middle. The patch-work piecing was done on a sewing machine with very fine stitching. The embroidered black characters were all done by hand. This is a great quilt.... made with PRECISION and loving care.
1930-40 era coverlet / quilt intended for a crib... note the flap at the bottom that would be tucked-in at the bottom of the bed.Measurements: 48" x 48" with a "tuck-in" flap at the bottom that measures 12" x 24". OR use as a piece of wall-art in the babies room.
A sampling of nursery rhymes include: Cat & The Fiddle, Humpty Dumpty, Mary Had a Little Lamb, The Cow Jumped Over the Moon, Hickory-Dickery Dock, 3-Bags Full, Pied Piper, Goosey, Goosey Gander, Rub-a-Dub, Dub 3 Men in a Tub, Jack B Nimble - Jack B Quick and Jack and Jill. There are 25 nursery rhyme characters all together.CONDITION: This quilt / coverlet has been stored away for many, many years.... so there is some yellowing around the edges and in the wrinkles of the "folds". The next-to-the-last photo shows some minor pin-prick blood splatters , but there are no other stains or tears or wear or damage to this handmade piece. I have not attempted to wash or clean or "spot-clean" this quilt.SHIPPING: This piece will be very carefully packaged with a shipping weight of 2-lbs. Priority Mail .... insured for the purchase price.Payment via PayPal will be appreciated within 3-days. Instant mailing upon payment.
Should you have questions or concerns...please let me know.
