DESCRIPTION:
Oh, this is a cool set! Copyright 1956, Made-In-Japan ceramic "5-Piece X'Mas Breakfast Set", all together and complete, by Murray Kreiss & Co.
The set includes a Santa and Mrs egg cup, each with an egg cozy in the form of a red knit cap with pom-pom and tiny bell. There a...re matching Santa and Mrs. salt and pepper shakers with spaghetti lace trim, and the most adorable Spaghetti Santa 'Merry Xmas' dinner bell! All are nestled in green excelsior and waxed Easter grass. The pasteboard box is covered with festive Santa paper and a full-color printed label illustrating the contents of this novel set.
The egg cups measure 2 1/8" high and 2 1/8" wide. The shakers are 2 3/8" high and 2 1/8" wide. The bell measures 3 1/8" high and 1 3/4" diameter
The pieces are marked with a combination of "©KREISS 1956" stamped trademark and tiny paper "JAPAN" paper labels.
The pasteboard box measures 7" by 7" by 3" high. It has a paper label on the bottom stating: "Q-3250, 1-set, 5-Piece X'mas Breakfast set"
CONDITION:
~ is excellent, no overt damage. The colors are bright, no chips, cracks, damage or repairs to the ceramic. The little knit 'cap' egg cozies are clean, no holes or stains, and complete with their pom-poms and brass bells. The Santa shaker has a glazed-over manufacturing flaw firing crack near the cork stopper ~ as shown in our photos.
The box is complete, but does have some light staining, old cello tape residue, scuffs and wear to the edges, and some dents and bends. The corners appear split, but that is how they were constructed, with staples instead of glued flaps.
