Original Description:
Please examine photos. They are THIS item and are part of the description. I do not use stock photos or photos of other people’s items. This is one of approximately 165 postcards sent to one young lady, "Fanny/Fani" Freudenheim (see last photo here, not included), between 1898 and 1910. Per 1910 and 1920 census records she was born in about 1883 and emigrated from the Austro-Hungarian Empire to the USA in 1902. In about 1903 she married one of her MANY suitors, Nathan Reisler, bo...rn in Austria in 1877. In 1910 they had three children, Teddy, Oscar and Emanuel. Ted and his descendants became custodians of Fraulein Fanny's postcard collection until someone, unknown, dumped them at an Antique Shop where I rescued them all. In the next 160 listings, or so, we will tell the story of the courting and admiration of a turn of the last century beauty who like so many seeking freedom, became part of the melting pot we call America. Please note these cards are all used and have various condition issues. The photos, there are many for each, are as important as the written description, if not more, please consider all of the photos, there are as many as 12 per card. To the degree the stamp or stamps are important to you I will simply describe the first year of the design, denomination and color. Assume the stamp is the cheapest variety. Perforations, watermarks, secret marks, color shades, varnish bars etc. are for the buyer to determine. I have done my best with weeks of research to identify the postmark cities and dates. Some are open to interpretation. Please see photos and make your own determination. A bit of geographic and historical background. The Austro-Hungarian Empire covered territory which is currently part of Poland in the north, Ukraine in the east and Italy in the southwest. Place names can be in three or four different languages from 1898 to present day. In the period covered by these cards (prior to the break up of the Empire as a result of World War I), "Austria" was divided into 15 provinces, many of them represented in this collection. (There are none from the Hungarian part of the Empire.) Toward the end there are many sent to Fani in the USA. Cards priced $10 or more include FREE SHIPPING in the USA. (Foreign purchases will incur ONE charge for 8 ounces, no matter how many cards are purchased for the same shipment.) Cards priced less than $10 incur one $2 shipping charge in the USA no matter how many you buy. Now for THIS card. (37.)  This is a rare Art Nouveau Art card by Karoly Jozsa (1872-1929).  Jozsa studied at the Vienna and Munich Academies and at the JulianAcademy in Paris. After settling in Munich he worked in a variety of mediumsincluding oil painting, pastel, and woodblock. He also worked as an illustratorand created designs for postcards. I see Jozsa cards offered for $75 to $125. The card was mailed in Olmutz by a frequent suitor whose name I can only partly decipher, " Kopecny.....".  Fraulein Fani lived in Olmutz, Moravia with Herr Bernard Hornick and his wife Serafina from September 1899 until 1901 when she emigrated to New York. (Bernhard died September 19, 1931 and is buried in the Jewish Cemetery in Olmutz.) The postmark is exceptionally clear.  Significant flaws not depicted in the photos are describedhere-with, minor flaws and normal wear are not. Unless the item is described asnew, assume there will be minor flaws or wear commensurate with a used item ofgiven age.Payment price cheerfully refunded for any reason unless theitem is described “as is, no returns”.
