I am 90% sure that this viewer is a homemade device and did not enter the world this way. I don't know a lot about stereoviews and less about viewers, so not sure of the reason for this. I also have no way of testing with a card, but I am sure it will work. The inner box slides back and forth. The larger outer box has a name embossed in it, but cannot read it because the viewer is attached to it. I think it is possible that this box once held cards. Box measures 7 3/4" x 6" x 4" in cl...osed position. Cards are put into slot and slides down to 2 metal brackets to hold card. Appears to be in good condition with a little play in the handle.
