Rare 1909 brick from Indianapolis Motor Speedway The Brickyard Indy 500. Just after Labor Day 1909 the brick paving began with 3 million two hundred thousand of them shipped from the Wabash clay company in Western Indiana. They were stamped as seen in the photos. It took 63 days to complete. Many of the bricks were covered up Asphalt patches in 1936. In 1955 all of the track was resurfaced except for the Main Straight. And 1961 all of the track was resurfaced except for the three foot ...Finish Line. One of the interesting facts about the bricks it has been documented there are 12 different brick manufacturers in total. It's not known how many bricks remain in good condition. A lot of bricks in the corners or chewed up and patched with asphalt. This brick is sold as seen in the pictures and is an excellent Survivor from the racetrack. This auction also comes with several types of documentation such as a u.s. patent office on the paving block a copy of that.
