Up for auction is a very rare Sterling Silver Faberge Egg made by Sarah Faberge. It is a Leo Egg - part of the Zodiac Collection created in 1994. Five hundred eggs were made for each sign of the Zodiac. Ninety-Four were made in Sterling Silver with the remainder being made in 14k Gold. This egg is number 103 of 500 and 20 of the 94 Sterling Silver Eggs. Sarah Faberge is the great grandaughter of Carl Faberge of the famous Faberge family that made the renowned Faberge eggs in Russia. Th...e family fled Russia during the Russian Revolution and lost the right to use the family name in 1951. It was finally recovered in 2007 when Sarah Faberge regained the right to call her eggs and those of her late father Theo Faberge "Faberge Eggs". As this egg was originally made in 1994 it was at the time marketed as part of the St. Petersburg collection but can now be sold and is sold as a genuine Faberge Egg.
