SmokeyThe Bear is the official mascot of the United States Forest Service. The forest service created this mascot in theyear 1944 to help educate the general public on the dangers of forest fires andwild fire. Smokey’s proper and correctfo...rmal name is “Smokey Bear”; however most know him as Smokey The Bear. Thereare many collectible items related to Smokey Bear. They range from official stuffed animals tobumper stickers to pencils to boundary line signs to bicycle license plates. Many such as the patch we are offering inthis eBay Auction are very and highly collectible to collectors of Smokey TheBear Items and Artifacts! Thispatch was created & issued as part of the 2015 Smokey Bear Patch Seriesmaking this patch 3 years old. Thispatch was created & issued to help promote the prevention of forest firesand was used in schools, at fair exhibits and as a give-a-way when forest fireprevention programs where being given to the general public at such places likefire company’s, town meeting halls or public offices. Thepatch consists of a scene featuring a badge shield shown in the center of thepatch. Pictured inside the badge shieldis Smokey’s Face, with a pair of crossed shovels above his facialportrait. To the left and right of thecrossed shovels are a pair of evergreen trees. At the base of the badge shield is a banner with the lettering in darkblue of “EST. 1944”. Above all of this, near the top of the patch, in blue lettering with white shadowing is the wording “SMOKEY”. Surrounding the patch is a well sewn borderof dark blue! SmokeyBear Face is shown wearing his customary light brown “Smokey” Hat. This beautiful patch catches your eye withall the bright colors and beautiful things pictured in the patch! Thepatch is irregular in shape with diameter measures of 3 ¼” by 4” at its widestpoints. The patch contains 4 style /size of lettering and 3 very vivid colors. The backing on the patch isdifferent from the older cheesecloth type backing. The backing is rubberized to add to the lifeof the patch and better protect the sewing, which make it up. The patch we are selling in this eBay Auction andthe patch you will receive are new / unused and have not been sewn on anygarment, material or item. The patch youwill receive will be in excellent condition and the same as the one seen in thephotographs. We do use stock photographs in our auction ads which means thepatch you will receive may or may not vary slightly in color or patchdetail. The patch you receive will be anoriginal, new patch but some patches in the production run do vary slightlyfrom patch to patch.
