An amazing set up. An original vintage McIntosh component and speaker system with manuals, service info and amplifier clinic test results from 1973 and 1978.
I believe the units would be 1972's or 1973's. They have had one owner from new until 2020. The original owner made the tough decision to start down sizing his estate and hadn't listened to the set up that much over the last year and decided it was time to move them on to a new home. Each of the owners's manuals has the p...rice sticker in the upper left corner of the inside cover of the original price paid for the units. Each component has an owners manual as well as a service manual. Both manuals for each component contain awesome info and are in very good condition.
I am not a high end electronics expert and will do my best to explain what I know and have tested. But please ask any questions before you purchase or make an offer as all sales are final. The setup sells as is.
I have hooked up the system and tested the basic functions. All power on and work as I can tell. I hooked a very nice turntable up to test the sound and phono function and it worked great. I think the system sounds awesome, but will sound even better when someone with more experience gets it dialed in. The MR 74 tuner works but didn't pick up much for FM stations with just the attached antenna. I didn't hook up an external antenna but it did well with am stations.
The MQ 101 equalizer seems to be working as it should.
The MC 2105 power amplifier seems to be working great. Meters are very reactive and all switches were tested and working.
The C 28 Preamp seems to be working as it should. I didn't test any of the front inputs or buttons in the middle. This unit is the one that has the test sheet that are pictured with the owners manual.
The ML-1C speakers sound very good to me. I was told buy a friend that is very into high end stereo equipment and said the system would sound even more amazing on different, better speakers, but said they did sound very good. The original owner had the units reconed within the last several years.
The beautiful walnut cabinets are in very good condition, but not perfect. All have panloc buttons. There are minor imperfections in some of the cabinets and a few marks on the speaker tops, sides and bottoms. This is a 37+ year old set up, it's in really good condition, but not perfect. I didn't do some light cleaning to the fronts of the components, knobs, cabinets and speaker grills. But may need additional cleaning as the new owners sees fit.
I see several of each component and sets of the speakers up for sale or sold. But I have found very few if any complete setups like this example.
This awesome lot of amazing McIntosh pieces will ship via freight. Each unit will be properly wrapped and boxed and then crated together for transport. Shipping cost is the cost to a business address in the continental US with a dock or forklift to unload the truck. Or it can be picked up at a local trucking terminal. Residential delivery or business without a dock or forklift to unload the crate will be an additional $100.
