Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:29703734 | Model: 710 Stroboscopic Turntable |
Brand: HH Scott |
Here's a 1950's H.H. Scott Type 710 Stroboscopic turntable with a 16" Gray Research Tonearm that's been fitted with a GE VRII mono cartridge. This turntable comes from a private audio engineering museum in western North Carolina, and it's one of dozens of vintage audio items from the museum that I'll be listing over the next few months. I'm offering these pieces "as found." Most of them work, but some don't. In all cases, I'll try to provide an accurate assessment of electrical condition and suitability for use based on limited testing. I don't have the time, energy or skill to repair the pieces that aren't working, so please read the descriptions carefully to make sure you get what you're expecting.
Condition of the turntable, tonearm and cartridge is excellent. It's one of the best mono set-ups I've ever heard, and if you've been playing your early mono vinyl with a stereo cartridge, all you need to do is listen to your records on this 710 for a few minutes to realize how much you've been missing out.
Everything is working properly, including the strobe and pitch control. The platter rotates quietly, and the cartridge and stylus are in excellent condition.
Shipping weight will be about 45 lb. The phonograph will be properly packed and double-boxed. I use only new packaging, not boxes I've fished out of the local Walmart dumpster.
When you've finished checking out my ebay listings this week, take a look at my TechnoGallerie website, where you can buy hard-to-find antique phonographs, antique radios, antique cameras and other gadgets you're not likely to see anywhere else. New arrivals include a 1901 Type "A" Victor with an Eldridge Johnson New Century Sound Box and a 1923 Atwater Kent 4207 (Model 7) breadboard radio on a fully bound cabinet board. Just type TechnoGallerie in the address line of your web browser and hit the enter key. TechnoGallerie has a newsletter, too, and if you take a second to sign up for it, you'll receive an email update whenever I list something new on the site -- typically once a week.
