Up for sale is this pair of possibly new old stock JBL 128H 12 inch drivers that just had their surrounds replaced.
I have two identical, close serial number drivers from that I acquired from a long time JBL dealer.
He's been giving me a lot of new old stock items over the last few months from inventory that has been on the shelf as far back as 1977. I've had some JBL stuff that were in sealed boxes dating from 1983.
The JBL dealer who is a friend of mine thinks these we...re never used and the foam surrounds had simply rotted because of the decades of sitting in their boxes at his office.
I can't really see evidence of them being mounted, the gaskets appear uncompressed and the rear of the frame doesn't appear to have been mounted to an enclosure, so there's the distinct probability that these were in fact, never used. However, they did just have the foam surrounds replaced by an authorized JBL reconer in West Palm Beach. The only thing I see on the back flange is evidence of an adhesive that was used to hold the rubber gasket in the frames groove and that it has picked up some cardboard/dust from the box.
At the very least they are a stellar pair of perfectly working 128's with very close serial numbers...100527 & 100513.
They will ship in their factory boxes, likely taped together as one unless otherwise requested by the purchaser.
Please see the photos and message me with any questions you might have before purchasing as there will be no returns.
