This is a Friden Model STW10 mechanical calculator from the 1950s. It is one of the few mechanical calculators able to do not only addition and subtraction, but also multiplication and division! During that period my father worked for a major oil company and I had a summer job there. I used this calculator in his office. When he retired in the 1970s he was allowed to keep his machine, probably because they were updating the equipment and because they had dozens, if no...t hundreds, of these beasts. For the last 40+ years I have had it in storage. Sold as-is.This particular machine is very clean and complete. There is one small screw missing on the right side panel but there are others holding it on securely. The calculator does not work, which I think is common with machines of this age. When plugged in and the add key is pressed, you can hear the motor try to activate the mechanism but something is jammed or frozen. Someone familiar with these machines should be able to get it going. For anyone collecting historical calculators this is a jewel to add to your collection. In addition to the calculator, you will receive the power cord, dust cover and a thick reprint of the service manual full of detailed diagrams, discussion of operation, maintenance procedures and parts lists. But wait, there's more! I will include a page out of the October 13, 1952 issue of Newsweek magazine (original, not a copy) with a full page ad for this Friden calculator. Because of the weight, I do not have the ability to pack it properly for shipment. However I have been in contact with a professional packing and shipping company and have some estimates. The unit is located in Houston, Texas. To have it properly packed and delivered to Seattle would cost about $225. To Dallas would be about $100. Local pickup is also available at no cost. Buyer to pay packing/shipping costs. Very clean, very heavy and, I assume, pretty rare by now! I will send buyer details for local pickup after PayPal payment is received. News Flash: I just got a quote from UPS to pack and ship to the west coast: $130
