We believe these arenice Ambrotypesor Daguerreotypes, but we are not experts in older photographs. 1) First pictureis a couple together and the second one is of the wife. Both are in floral embossed leather cases with gold trim and hookclasps. Inside of leather cases is red velvetwith gold mat and trim. 2) Third one isa man, but can’t see much detail in his face or torso. Velvet has come off inside and there is agold mat an...d trim. Outside is embossedleather with hook clasps. 3) Fourth pictureis of a distinguished man with beard. Red velvet inside with gold mat and trim. Not is best shape, but you can see him. Outside is embossed leather with hook clasps.4) Fifth pictureis of a baby in a black dress sitting in a chair. Picture is dark. In a gold mat and frame, covered in glass. Purple velvet on the inside with goldtrim. Embossed leather case has pushclasp and is coming apart. 5) Sixth pictureis of a young man, no beard. Inside goldmat and trim, with glass covering picture. Inside has satin fabric and gold trim. Outside is lacquer/enamel and mother of pearl, black with flower motifetched. Back is lacquer/enamel with goldetchings. Center metal clasp closescase. Frame is coming apart.6) Seventh pictureis a tin picture of mother holding 2 children – one standing beside her and oneon her lap. There is no case for thispicture.7) One broken case (no picture inside). Looks like Bakelite, but not sure what it is made of. Darkbrown color with what looks like Greek motif.8) 2 metal gold-colored/brass mats for inside of frames - about 4 x 6” These pictures were from my grandmother's estate back in1965. We assume that they could have been family members, but are notsure.
Note: The leather cases are coming apart due to condition andage. Some are in better shape thanothers.
