VINTAGE-AR is now offering new replacement grilles, patterned from an original European AR-3a grille, complete with replacement grille cloth just like one of the original cloths utilized on the AR-3a along with new logo plates. This is for a pair. These will also fit the AR-3a Improved and AR-3a Limited. During late production of the AR-3a speaker, AR was making speakers in Europe and made the cabinets somewhat different th...an those manufactured in the US. In particular, the solid wood beveled front edges were replaced with a thin square veneer design. Therefore, the grilles were of a different size. These are 24 x 13 inches. These should also fit the limited production AR-3a Improved and AR-3a Limited as, we believe the cabinet dimensions to be the same. If you are ordering these for the AR-3a Improved, please email us after your purchase, as we also have the AR-3a Improved logo plates. Without impacting the acoustics, we strengthened the frames. Additionally, we use a high strength material vs. the weaker fiber board AR used. The grille cloth is an off white linen material with the little "slubs" (heavy pieces of thread) running up and down the grille. These replacement logo plates are now being manufactured for VINTAGE-AR. The plates are the correct size and the font is exact to the AR original. The material is a brass alloy overlaid on a burgundy plastic and laser engraved. The brass alloy will prevent the inevitable tarnishing that occurred with the originals.
