Cross Cut
Circa 1940s
Good looking latter model Disston D-23 from the late1930 or 40s at the end of the brass hardware. The handles aren't as sexy as the earlier years but they also don't break horns or crack like the early ones either! In many ways they are the best of all worlds. The steel used was some of the finest produced and cut extremely well plus the sentiment value, it's the saw growing up every...one had from the kid down the street to my middle school shop.
This D-23 has minimal apologies in the general use 8 point cross cut. The late model D-23 handle has a few light marks. No repairs made or needed. The 8 point cross cut was sharpened with sloped gullets and perfect for general use on most woods and designed more for Med to soft woods like pine. The saw starts easy, tracks well and leave a clean finish. Have a look at the picture and "about the saw" below. If you have questions please email.

ABOUT THE SAW
HANDLE: Nice example of the later style handle in American beech. A few stains and dings that come with age. Both horns are full, the handle is structurally sold and tight. Please see pics for any other small marks. Most of the late Disston saws used a distinctive lacquer finish and it remains in very nice condition.
PLATE: Clean, straight plate that retains a factory shine with a few stains. The factory etch is clean and readable. I take great care in preparing the plates and each one is hand polished before it's jointed, shaped, set, and sharpened by hand. This 8 point cross cut is perfect for most woods and just the ticket for general use in the shop or job site. The 8 point cross cut is the size most of us started with. Perfect for 2x4's and other general construction around the house. I'vefiled the saw with sloped gullets to produce a saw that cuts smoothly and tracks straight.
please excuse any dust on the plate and in the pictures. It will be wiped down before mailed. Why buy from Me?
The goal with every saw I offer is to bring back the beauty in direct proportion to itsoverall condition. Each one is checked before it’s sharpened and tested then tuned as needed. It's true I do this for profit but I've got a passion for saws that anyone who's talked with me know. I stand behind what I sell! It’s as simple as that. If you're not happy contact me and I will refund or work it out. I have love for what I do and I think if you take the time to read my blog or follow me on social media it come through. NOT SO FINE PRINT
Please carefullyreview the pictures, I have done my best to describe things as I see them.ALWAYS feel free to email with any questions and I will do my best to answerthem. I make every effort to ship next day after payment M-F.
I now use the ebay calculator that allows local customers a better ratethen a single flat rate coast to coast. I'm happy to combined shipping but please contact me BEFORE payment so I can combineI accept returns up to 14 days . I do not charge extra for shipping but do charge $1.50 to cover the cost of the box. These older saws can damage easily and I find it's better to use a custom box rather then recycle ones.
Please take a second to look at this and other saws I offer. I put a good dealof effort into each saw and I want you, the buyer to be happy. E-mail with anyissues and I will do my best to resolve them in a peaceful way. Thanks forlook and I invite you to read my feedback, It’s a gift and you should bid withconfidence based on it.
