Offered here today is a very cool 116 year old paper document -- a Landhunter Ticket Receipt. This is a receipt for a ticket sold by A.E. Johnson Co. of St. Paul, Minnesota to Peter E. Bakken (for the sum of $63.30) to provide transportation for Sigrid E. Bakken from Trondhjem (now Trondheim), Norway to Baltic, S.D. The A. E. Johnson Co. had "2, 000, 000 acres of the finest Prairie, Timber and Grazing Land in the Northwest for sale". The ticket was for passage on the Cunard Line.... A.E. Johnson sold Landhunter Tickets to Minnesota, Dakota, Montana, Washington and Oregon. The date is hard to read due to the condition of the document. I believe it is Feb 21, 1903.
As you can see from the scans, this Landhunter Ticket Receipt is in poor to fair condition. There is visible wear, numerous tears, chips missing and creases. There is rubbing/soiling on both sides. The document was folded several times and there is visible wear and tears on those creases. It has been taped in several places on the back. There is no tape on the front. Please view all the scans for these and any other potential condition issues. The scans are part of the condition description and all of the ticket is visible in the scans.
