Solid wood handle There are no splits or cracks. There is a little "goop" on it combination of dirt and pitch I'd think. Will come off with steel wool. Ther metal parts have some rust as seen in the photos. 1 piece is marked Disston Phila. The wood handle is 12 15/16" long. The big old timey wing nut moves well. Shipped in a legal size flat rate envelope with no padding. Don't see why it would need any padding. Select the second option if you want to pay extra and have it shipped in a ...box.
