Vintage Hand Pieced Quilt Top Patchwork Pink & Brown Cover. The approx 2000 little squares are hand sewn together in tiny neat stitches as seen in close ups! It is backed with muslin, seamed on three sides with the fourth side open, photo 8. I have been told this was popular in the mid west during the 1920’s to 1950’s. A blanket was put inside the quilt cover for winter and taken out for the summer. Measures 74” x 71”. It is in good condition with only a few spots on the patchw...ork side and a few more on the muslin back and a small hole in the muslin as seen in photo # 7. The patchwork itself is in really nice condition! The patchwork actually continues around the back as seen in photo # 5. Not sure why! So if finished without back, it would be about 10” longer! The backing is a couple sheets sewn together. Purchased at an estate sale auction. I have not laundered as I am aware of people’s allergies. Been packed away for many years and the family at the auction didn’t actually know who made it. Take off the back and finish into an heirloom quilt or use as intended or repurpose!
