For sale is a working AsanteTalk ethernet-serial/LocalTalk bridge for Apple Macintosh computers. This enables mini-Din 8 serial devices and computers to connect with AppleTalk to other computers/devices over ethernet. This does not connect computers to the internet. To the best of my knowledge, this is one of the few ways to connect early 68k Macintoshes to more modern ones, though users must check hardware and software capabilities beforehand. Correctly install...ed system software with AppleShare, for example, is required. System 7, 8, and 9 usually installed this by default, but system 6 did not. AppleTalk support varies in OS X, so buyers should check compatibility with OS X computers if they wish to use them. I have several for sale, and each auction is for ONE (1) unit consisting of an AsanteTalk, power adapter, and cables. UPDATE: I have only one left.
Item 1 (photographs 3-5): AsanteTalk, generic charger, generic ethernet cable, Belkin serial cable.The items shows some scuffs and wear typical of its age. I tested it working with two PowerBook G3 computers (not included; both on sale separately in other auctions) running OS 9, which is shown in some photographs. Other photographs show all four lights lit on the AsanteTalk. Photographs 4-6 show the items in use. See all photographs for more details.
