Offered in this listing is a wonderful early 19th century Treen ware Sander. This is a skillfully turned and carved piece in an unknown wood with a pedestal base, bulbous hollow center and wide bowl at top. The bowl at top has holes opening to the hollow center and are oriented as a six poiinted star shape. The holes of course for allowing sand to be shaken onto the written inked word, serving in effect as a blotter for the paper. The piece is 3-3/8" tall and ... 3-3/8" across the bowl. The piece is a painted and still has the original paint.. kind of a dull orange or orangish brown. The paint remains, effectively, intact with only a little wear. The bottom shows some original blue paint with a few spots as seen in the photo. Great piece.
