Up for sale is an IBM Music Feature Card with its MIDI Breakout Box. The card is a less common late revision and has a Mask ROM instead of an EPROM for its firmware. No box or manuals or software but manuals and software can be found easily online. The card is working but because it is a vintage component, it is sold as-is.
The IBM Music Feature is one of the first sound cards released for the IBM PC platform. It is a full-length card designed by... Yamaha and offers up to eight channels of 4-operator FM Synthesis. It also has a custom MIDI interface. The card's musical synthesizer is functionally equivalent to the Yamaha FB-01 and compatible with MIDI files which support the FB-01. Several Sierra games support the card starting with King's Quest IV and most other Sierra 16-color games released thereafter. The card can be used internally in a vintage PC. The breakout box permits the card's music engine to be used externally via another computer or MIDI device, essentially behaving like an FB-01.
