DUAL 600MHz 7410 Apple G4 Cube Upgrade CPU 1MB L2 like Sonnet, Newer Tech.

I have an Apple Power Mac G4 DUAL 600MHz 7410 G4 upgrade CPU with 1MB of L2 cache for sale. CPU upgrades for the Cube seem to be few and far between these days so I converted this CPU card for Cube use. This processor card was originally a dual 500MHz 7400 out of a tower Power Mac, part number 820-1053. It has been modified... with the installation of much newer MPC7410 Motorola PowerPC CPU chips BGA soldered to the PCB. These 7410 chips are the latest rev from 2003 and can run faster while using less power at lower voltage than the original 7400 chips. Low power CPUs are a good thing for the Cube. Dual CPUs have clear advantages in Mac OSX and with multi-threaded applications. In a Cube, this is one of the best CPUs you can get which makes it similar to other aftermarket upgrades offered by Sonnet, Giga Designs, OWC, Powerlogix, Newer Technology, Fastmac, etc.
I took some power measurements of just the CPU cards:
Stock 450MHz 7400 (nap at idle)
idle 1w peak power 16.8w
Stock Apple Dual 500MHz 7400 (no nap)
idle 15.8w peak power 38.4w
Modified Dual 600MHz 7410 (no nap)
idle 10.3w peak power 23.0w
This card can fit any of the 100MHz bus Apple desktop computers, but the inductor has been specifically modified to allow installation in a Cube. As you can see in the pictures, the installation requires no permanent modification of any original Cube components. Adding two copper pads of the proper thickness allows the original Cube heat spreader to work with this CPU. You could also use a plain copper bar of the correct thickness sandwiched between the CPU and Cube main heatsink. This CPU uses less power than an OEM Dual 450 or 500MHz 7400 (a popular DIY upgrade), but a base fan should still be installed. There are many fan options, including some that are temperature controlled so that they run slow and quiet unless needed. I also suggest adding a small heatsink to the 5v section of the VRM (see picture).
I'm a Mac hobbyist and private seller, not an ebay business. I can provide some advice on using this but I have no control over how it gets handled or installed. If you are not familiar with working on computers, or the Cube in particular, I would suggest getting technical assistance with this. So I'm selling this AS IS with no returns or refunds. However, it is currently working perfectly in my computer and upon request I can run tests or programs to demonstrate its function. It uses MPC7410 Motorola processors and does not require a firmware update for installation.
The CPU card and two copper pads are what will be shipped. The idea is to re-use the Apple Cube heat spreader with the copper pads to thermally connect the CPU dies to the main Cube heatsink. I suggest adding a base fan, install with thermal paste, etc. The CPU will be carefully pulled, packaged, and mailed by USPS to the USA. This is from a pet and smoke free office. The pictures are very close to but not but actual item and other Cube pictures are for reference. You are bidding on a CPU card, not a complete Cube computer.
