This is an 8-inch full size form factor, the first generation floppy disk drive. Manufacture is Shugart Associates, and made in Japan in 1980, or early 1980’s. The frame is diecast aluminum including front bezel, and very heavy duty built and neatly built, and still like new. The drive motor is AC 120 volts induction type motor, the stepper motor and lead screw is unbelievably large comparing to what you see in today’s products. Weight is 12 lbs.
