I take great pride in my work, which I hope can be seen in the finished product.
On offer here is a lovely “one of a kind” Smiths Enfield Napoleon hatmantel clock. I brought this look to restore as I had never seen a Smiths clockin a case like this. I discovered that it is indeed a marriage of what I thinkis a 1920s German case and a late 1940s Smiths movement and dial. This marriagehas been done very well and the only tell-tail sign is two holes inside thecase where the Westminster chime once sat. I found it ironicthat the case and movement (German and English) was produced either side ofWorld War II and were married together sometime later.
This clock has been fully restored and cleaned by myself and I have donesome restoration to the case while still keeping the character of the clock.This clock is an eight day and strikes on the half hour and counts thehours at 12. The medium/dark oak coloured case dimensions are 16”wide by 9 ½” high by6 ¼” deep. Please do bear in mind that this is an old clock and therefore althoughin very good condition for its age, there are some imperfections. As I havesaid, the case is in good condition considering its coming up to 100 years old, but I have not over repaired it, as I feel this would spoil the clock.To that end the case will have some small marks which will be related to itsage. I have done some veneer work to the case which you might notice. The movement was in very poor condition and required a lot of work toget it running again. This included it being stripped right down, including themain springs. All pivots polished. Three New bushes in the back plate and a 3stage clean and polish. All this work can be seen in the photo diary.
Unlike most old clocks, the key hasnot been taken and lost by the key gremlin. Therefore this clock will come withits original key. As with all my clocks, the buyer willreceive my own care sheets so that you will get the most out of the clock.Covering four sheets of A4, these pages cover everything from winding up theclock and adjusting the time, to when to have it serviced. You will receive a TDK C/D with a write upand 115 photos showing the work I have doneon the movement and case. The care sheets will be on the C/D. If yourequire them printing, please let me know.
Please note the following onpostage:-I am more than happy to post myclocks to you and they will be packed to the best of my ability. With this inmind and because of the rough handling of our postal services you are more thanwelcome to pick your clock up from me. In fact I would prefer this, as old clocks do not like being moved around too much.I also offer a delivery andsetup service to anywhere in mainland UK. If you pay fullprice for the clock, the delivery is included up to fifty miles fromCongleton. If you live further than that, the added cost fordelivery is 0.30 per mile return. So the cost of delivery and setup, if you lived 100 miles from me would be £30. I will also give you a twelvemonth guarantee. In both instances you will see the clock running and ask anyquestions you might have.
REMEMBER.Ifyou do decide to pick up the clock from me or have it delivered and setup bymyself I will give you a 12 month guarantee.
