Antique RARE Swedish C. W. DAHLGREN Eskilstuna Hunting Knife W/ Scabbard
Item History & Price
A handmade knife crafted in late 1800 to early 1900 by well known knifemaker C. W. Dahlgren in Eskilstuna, Sweden. Based on the accompanying scabbard, this is knife #42. You can also see it is the same as the #42 model advertised in a 1906 CW Dahlgren catalog held in the Eskilstuna city museum (last photo): http://eskilstunaknivar.se/c-w-dahlgren/
The blade engraving reads 'C.W. Dahlgren Eskilstuna Sweden'. The handle is masu...r birch wood. This knife is in good condition for its age. The nickel(?) plated scabbard has several welding spots where it was repaired. These appear to be old repairs. It is lined on the inside with leather. Carl Walfrid Dahlgren owned a factory in Eskilstuna Sweden; produced luxury knives from 1870 to 1915. He is famous for his high quality etched blades and sheaths. In the beginning he marked his knives "CW Dahlgren Eskilstuna" and later "C.W.D.F.A.B. Eskilstuna". In 1904 his factory had 166 workers.
