Lewis & Clark Centennial Expositiondated 1905
Bowl is very ornately designed with an image of Lewis and Clark walking toward the rising sun with Sacajawea between them with hair and robes flowing in the breeze. Lettered with "Lewis & Clark Centennial Exposition; Westward Ho (in the sun rays)" and below them "Westward, the course of (the) Empire Takes It's Way; Portland, Oregon; 1905...".
The equally ornate front of the double-sided handle features a salmon, a train and a sailing ship below the "Portland" banner at Sacajawea's feet (with baby on her back), the busts of Lewis & Clark are above her, the tip is decorated with an American Eagle and "In God We Trust".
The back of the handle accents crops of wheat, forests and Mount Hood below the Oregon Historical Coat of Arms as designed in 1876 (rather than being the state seal). Full sized teaspoon, 5 7/8" long overall, a little over 21 grams in weight.
Marked "Sterling" with a flag/banner that has an "H" stamp, the marking of the "Mechanics Silver Company", a subsidiary of the "Watson Company" as early as 1905, later becoming "Wallace Silversmiths".
Overall excellent condition, minimal signs of wear, lightly aged patina.
