DESCRIPTION:This auction is for a lovely mama doll baby doll, 1930s+. Doll is a composition swivel head, shoulder plate, arms with fingers intact, composition legs with cloth stuffed mama doll body, there is a non-working crier in her back. This doll is in displayed condition with some overall wear, & line crazing. She has stitched hip joints, inner disc jointed at shoulders and head that turns. My reference Collectors Encyclopedia of American Composition Dolls Volume II Mertz, sho...ws a similar "unmarked" doll made by Madame Alexander, page 20. I do not know her past history or maker, but believe her stockings and shoes to be original and possibly her one piece slip with undies. Her slip needs a little sewing restoration. This doll has a "sweet" face with open and close tin eyes that work fine, (eyes are very worn, crazed and crackled), she retains her upper hair eye lashes, brown brush stroked eye brows, painted lashes above the eyes, she has open mouth with four upper teeth. Her blonde mohair wig is secure on her head, a few hairs out of place but charming. She wears undies, stockings and shoes. Dress has only safety pin closure at the back and shows overall wear.
