This Victorian doorknocker (with accompanying plate) was reclaimed from an old goldrush era home in Northern California and it is a genuine antique. It features a lady's hand (complete with ring, lace cuff, and fingernails!) holding a ball. The ball is meant to strike the knob of the plate below, which is centered in the middle of a star. The same star is on top, where the hand attaches to the plate (at the lady's wrist). The plate itself is decorated with scallops and dots. ...;
The hardware is included and is still strong and secure.
The plate measures 7" long and nearly 3" wide. The hand is 6.25" long and 2.25" wide.
NOTE: The price is higher than some others out there because the hand is one of the most delicate and beautiful examples of this style that I have seen, and is genuine vintage. It is not a reproduction or cast from an old mold (many are, and the details are "softened" because of it). Please review the detail of this piece - it's a stunner.
The only issue to note is that when mounting the top portion, you must do so very securely, as it will list to the left it the nut is loose.
