The Legion of Honor is the highest degree and honor conferred by the International Supreme Council of the Order of DeMolay. The International Supreme Council of the Order of DeMolay awards the DeMolay Legion of Honor (LOH) to a Senior DeMolay for outstand...ing leadership in some field, service to humanity, or for success in fraternal life, including adult service to the Order of DeMolay. The honor was created in 1925.
When the Legion of Honor Degree was created by the Supreme Council in 1925, the minimum age was 20, then 21, and in 1936 it was raised to 22. No one applies for the Legion of Honor Degree; a nominee, the membership of a DeMolay Chapter, a DeMolay Knighthood Priory, or a DeMolay Legion of Honor Preceptory must have no knowledge of the nomination of a Senior DeMolay for the DeMolay Legion of Honor. Failure to observe secrecy concerning the nomination results in the nominee not being considered.
A unanimous vote of the Supreme Council Active Members is required for election to receive the DeMolay Legion of Honor.
This Legion of Honor Degree Medallion consists of a gold cross medallion with nine stars suspended from a red cordon. The cross is mounted on a wreath with crossed swords and surrounded by a crown above which is a Teutonic cross. This Legion of Honor Degree Medallion comes with an original instruction sheet describing how to correctly wear the medallion. As you can see in the photos, this Medallion has never been worn; the cordon has never been cut to adjust it to the correct length for the user.
