OK, wow. If you missed the chance to pick up a pair of these seedlings in my facebook auction, well, here's going to be your last chance this year outside of the NASC auction in September to add some very rare red tube flava genetics to your collection.
What we have here are two seedlings from a jaw dropping pure flava rubricorpora cross. Phil Faulisi's breeder rubricopra was the pod parent here. It's an absolute stunning rubricopra which almost fully infuses for me in the... greenhouse. It hails from Franklin County, just south of the main Sumatra red tube bogs. With the help of a friend, i've been exploring the Franklin County area recently and the genetics are very much different than just a few miles north of Sumatra in Liberty county where most of the red tubes are spread across some large sites. Franklin county genetics are pretty uncommon in cultivation, and like in the wild, this clone only puts up one pitcher per growth point each season.
The pollen parent is Mike King's F149. It is the absolute darkest red tube flava of any kind that I have in my collection. Jaw droppingly dark, it hails from just outside of Wewahitchka. I suspect based on a similar shaped and colored plant I have from the Coxwell swamp that it's true origin is just a few miles west of Wewahitchka in that swamp. Either way, it's a stunning plant that is very rare in collections in the US and a painfully slow grower.
The two seedlings you are getting (you get the whole pot, as photographed) are an attempt to get some outcross vigor in two mind meltingly beautiful yet very slow to grow clones. I can assure you that all of the siblings are solid red - not a single non red plant was produced. I am keeping most of these to grow into adulthood. These guys were planted out in Feb of 2019, and were pushed hard in my grow chamber and repotted several months back and have recovered in the greenhouse. They have settled in and put up some nice new pitchers which you can see, are very dark already. These guys promise to be some of the darkest rubricopra in cultivation, and you are getting two unique clones. First photo are my own photos of the parents.
I fully bag flowers, turn off fans, and practice very strict pollen gathering and applying procedures using disposable qtips for pollination. Insects aren't common in my sealed greenhouses in spring, but I take every precaution to ensure the pollen I put on a flower is the only one that pollinates it. I create plants for my own collection, and want to be assured what I cross is exactly what I want. Accept no substitutes for seedlings!
US bidders and US shipping only. I am a proud greenhouse grower. Plant will ship with some pitchers trimmed. Sorry, I can't ship plants overseas
And stay tuned, I'll have many many more flava seedlings to post in the coming weeks. The best time to build the flava collection of your dreams was yesterday, but you can still start today. Bid early and often, I for sure won't be selling this cross very often.
