Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:30249373 | Country/Region of Manufacture: United States |
Brand: Darling Brown & Sharpe |
According to my tool catalogs, this 1" scale is the smallest that D.B. & S. ever made. Samuel Darling, a machinist from Bangor, Maine was a partner with Brown & Sharpe from the mid 1850's to the 1890's when his shares were "bought out" by the other 2. It was his ability to grind these blades for scale making that was the reason for the original partnership. In fairly good condition (especially th...e small one). All graduations are clearly readable. Another nice offering for the heirloom toolbox.
If you purchase more then one item from us at the same time, we will consolidate shipping. We will do this if you let us know at that time. This is easier then waiting for us to do this after the fact, as we may not catch this, and doing PayPal refunds is bothersome for all of us.
These are all from a private collection from a machinist/mechanic. These are unmodified and "as found", with only perhaps oil for lubrication on them. All of them are true antiques- more then 100 years, and many from the 19th century. Where possible, we have viewed them with a contemporary catalog cut.
