RARE U.S Civil War Union Soldier ID’d Soldier’s Pocket Bible Hymn Book 1863?. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS First Class. Heres what could be an Civil War soldiers pocket bible hymn book with some identity information. William H. Roberts is written multiple times in the forward pages. It appears to say: his book used in the War but it is not clear because the top page is worn and has missing paper as seen. I believe had had folding diary like cover at some which is lo...ng gone. I dont believe any of the forward print is missing but there may be a few index pages missing from the back. The forward reads: Hymns for the use of the Methodist Episcopal Church...Cincinnati...Pope & Hitchcock 1863....which puts it in the Civil War era. There are a few pages with silverfish damages as seen but overall most of the pages are decent relatively white. I believe this book could easily be repurposed for a Civil War reenactor with simple black or brown canvas cloth cover added. If you have any questions or need additional photos please feel free to contact me. Measures roughly: 3 5/8 inches long, 2 3/8 wide and 1 1/2 thick. Being sold as due to age thanks for looking. There is a William H. Roberts listed as a Massachusetts Volunteer but i can not verify his previous ownership of this piece...also the same birth name name as the famous Billy the Kid imposter....Brushy Bill Roberts. There is also a historic house listed in Illinois named for a William H. Roberts v.i.a Wikipedia in Petcatonica IL.
