Exquisite pair of antique French opaline glass scalloped shell form dishes measure 5 3/4" x 4 1/2", and date, we think, to the middle of the 19th century. Crafted of the timeless celestial blue glass, so very popular in Victorian era furnishings, the dishes are in good, as found estate condition, with a slight roughness to one edge, caused to small "flea bite" chips to the underside of two scallops on one of the dishes, and a tiny speck of black flint embedded in the glass of the same ...dish, which cannot be removed.
