This is an interesting pair of antique postcards.
#1 is captioned "Sommer Palast, Peking, Summer Palace, Peking". It is a lovely view of the Summer Palace and grounds with a flag inset. It colors are rich and vibrant and it is very attractive, as you can see. It is in good condition with bumped corner tips, the lower right with a little wear. Please note there is a diagonal crease at the top right edge and a light crease at the left side of the bottom edge. If you turn the postcard to catch light glare, you see some rub lines at the bottom left edge in the water area. There are several narrow and short lines. Also with glare, you notice a little wear (the surface is not as shiny as the rest)on the hill and on the boat, and a little above the boat. Also using glare, your see diagonal impressions on the corner tip area. This postcard was tucked into the tabs of a postcard album for most of its life, thereby the impressions. None of this can be seen if you look directly at the postcard. There is a slight and short curved crease/crinkle at the middle of the building with the blue room. The postcard is 5 3/8 by just over 3 1/2 inches and we estimate this to be from 1909 or so, give or take a few short years. What a colorful view of the Summer Palace!
