1860's CHARLES BIERSTADT STEREOSCOPE
< Offered at auction is a very rare 1860's Charles Bierstadt stereoscope manufactured by Joseph Bates. Bierstadt, best known for his early stereoviews had Bates create these custom embossed hoods with his initials C.B. integrated into the beautiful motif design on the composition hood. This stereoscope is made of beautiful walnut wood with brass hardware and large clear lenses.. It has many of Bat...es' trademark features. The corner edges are a bit soft as is common for these composition hoods but is structurally sound. See my other quality stereoscopes at auction including an 1895 stereographoscope.
