Available is a very unique antique Sterling Silver souvenir spoon for Denver, Colorado.The spoon measures approximately 5 1/8 inches in length. The front neck, handle, and finial are decorated with three swastika's and the text "SWASTIKA" appears in the lower handle and neck of the spoon. The reverse of the spoon is decorated with scenes for mining (MINE AND SHAFT), plowing, cattle raising, and a cowboy riding a bucking bronco. The bowl is hand engraved "DENVER" and d...ecorated with flourishes. The reverse is hallmarked "STERLING/E.L.D." on two lines. The spoon was made by the E.L. Deacon Jewelry Company of Denver, Colorado. The Company made silver souvenir spoons from approximately 1900 to 1912. Needless to the swastikas on the spoon are for decoration (which was not uncommon for the period) and have nothing to do with the evil state that came along much later. The spoon is weighs 17.1 grams.The spoon is in excellent condition showing only light and tarnish.
