I never polish any of my brass items, especially lights or lamps. The patina on this light is perfect, no tarnish but no shine. As with most all of these vintage chandeliers, they are not solid brass everywhere. Some parts are on this one and some are not, another reason why you have to be careful polishing them, if the piece is not solid brass, you will remove the plating and the silver pot metal will show, I seen another one like mine listed and I could see this on theirs on the thro...at, best to just leave them alone, LOL. Anyway, the globes are perfect, the ball in the throat is perfect. Wiring looks good and by the way, I seen it burning and I bought it and several more from the owner at an estate sale. Been several months ago and they just got around to taking them down, so I know it worked. Measures 23" down from the ceiling cover to the tip of the finial on the bottom, and you can adjust by adding or removing chain links. There is a little paint on the ceiling cover as you can see in the pics. Widest point is between 17" and 18". Let me know if you have any questions, very nice vintage light.
