This is a military hat badge for a member of the Hungarian Defense Forces. the Red Star dissappeared from this design back in 1990, and the quality went way down. Hungarian Army hat badges like this one came in three finishes: gold (higher ranks), silver (lower ranks), and bronze/subdued (field uniform). this badge is 1" by 1 1/4" and enameled red, white, and green on brass with brass tines. appear to be new-old-stock!
