Cold steel grosse messer With Leather Chord Wrapped Grip(made My Me). Condition is Used.LIMITED TIME ONLY. also i cleaned up the end of leather wrap near pommel, and trimmed it a bit, ill post updated pics shortly.Make offer of 160 plus and its yours. Had a glitch on my offer settings and it autideclined certain offers. Offers of 160-170 will be acceptedUpdate- 6/8/2019. Im about to list q few other nice affordable blades today, and this will stay up but price will not change. Like i s...aid, this is an awesome sword after i put the work into it, and it will last a long long time. It has become my main sword i have around with me in my house, or iut in yard with dog. Still unused though, mand i am trying my best to keep it that way.  Im keeping it unless someone pays 180-200 for it. I would love to sell it for dirt cheap, but i just love it so much. My favorite sub 500 blade probably nowAlso this does come with a frogUpdate- im probably gonna take this down soon,   and i do apologize for the price because nornally i wouldnt sell an unused used(customized) blade for full price like this. Especially when its a blade  that i had to repair because it was damaged when i received it. The only reason i havent come down on listed price is because i don't wanna sell it yet.. unless someone pays 180 plus shipping. The lowest i will go is 180 plus shipping. I may change my mind further down the road and come down to 150 plus shipping, but for now the blade is wirth slot to me personally and its not worth selling for 150 yet. Its weird and i may eventually let it go for 150 plus shipping but im just not ready yet, i have too many other blades to sell to just let this one go for 150 plus shipping. I am in love with this blade after i wrapped it, and the price isnt going much lower than 200 until i actually wanna sell it. I think this blade is going to last longer than any sub 300 2 handed messer you can find. Condor might be as tough as mine, but i still bet on  this swords fittings never coming loose after years of abuse. I believe you will have to take a power saw to the handle in order to loosen the hilt. I dont think any smount of shock will come close to compromising integrity of this sword and its hilt components. This cold steel messer is arguably Toughest sub 500 2 handed sword i own now. I havent tested it because if someone buys th3 blade, i  at least want blade to be mint condition and unused, but im so positive it will hold up with destructive testing, i am actually guaranteeing this is tougher than my  super tough maa 2 handed version that ive abused more than any blade i own. That swords fittings dtill havent come loose either but still thats how highly i think of my customized messer. 175 plus shipping, and it can possibly be yoursEnd of update-( 6/2/2019 430 am)I will accept offers for this, depending on the offer and depending where you live. I dont wanna sell this and its going to be taken down after i list at least 4 more things, but i will accept certain offers before i do that if someone is willing to attempt to pry this from my cold dead hands. I guarantee the integrity of this blade now. I wouldnt feel comfortable buying this blade at all until cold steel improves the hilt construction. Even though this blade lacks distal taper, i do think this is the best looking, and best messer blade on sub 500 market, its a shame most of them have this defect eith the crossguard, tang, and overall hilt construction. Videos of cold steel messers were first videos i ever watched when i bought my first real swords. I have been obsessed eith messers ever since. The blade itsself truly is a beast, and the finish is excellent. The fittings snd handle was inly problem, and the sword will perform better and last longer than any other cold steel 2 handed messer that you can buyI wouldnt be asking for full price if i didnt think this wasnt the best cold steel 2 handed messer you can buy.   its even tougher and over all better than my 2 handed maa messer ive owned last 2 years and that thing is nearly indestructable. My leather wrapped gross3 messer is most durable cold steel messer available right now, period. This will ladt long long time and you get your moneys worth when you buy this.  it actually lives up to rhe expectations and performance standards that those crazybcold steel videos have setThis sword is pre owned and modified but remains unused. I bought this sword from the roost sports on Amazon. A seller I've never had problems with until I purchased my 3rd grosse messer. This was 2nd of this version of this sword that I purchased. I gave the first grosse messer to my  friend, and bought myself an maa one. After seeing my friends a couple times afterwards, I decided to get a 2nd non maa one for myself. But i was thoroughly dissapointed when it arrived. First of all hand guard was poking through the box. I thought no big deal, unwrapped plastic, but when it was unwrapped, i was almost shocked by the condition of the sword(handle, pommel, guard, all fd up) This sword was sent to me with a loose crossguard, pommel facing wrong esy and loose. Loose fittings apparently effect the majority of these non maa cold steel grosse messer swords, and kult of athena says this on their website, and they themselves are not quality controlling them out anymore, and are selling them as is at full price. Me on the other hand, I refused to sell someone something with loose fittings, so I got to work on quality controlling it out a couple months ago, I removed pommel to see why it wasnt tightening on straight, and first of all, the tang was grinded kinda weird, but the major problem was shavings of wood and metal blanketed over the threads, not allowing for one and a half turn on the pommel, I cleaned out the hilt of all loose material, cleaned the threads, applied 2 part epoxy to the Inside of the handle just for good measure, and then I took the pommel, and gave it 1 1/2 turn with some vice grips. I torqued the hell out of it, as it is supposed to be. Got the pommel to line up with edge of blade, and I permanently fixed loose crossguard qnd loose pommel. Thing is very solid now, probably more secure and more durable hilt construction than any other brand new cold steel grosse messer. Only problem was, the tang was grinded at a weird angle and the pommel was still a little odd, but I was happy, it lined up with blade edge, and all fittings were tight and it was fit to abuse. I still didnt want to sell at as it was though, and I decided to learn how to do a leather wrap. I watched videos, and read at least 5 how to  guides, and it took me months of learning what I needed and how to do it best, and I finally started the leather wrap back in very beginning of April. It's my very first leather wrap, but most certainly not my last. The seam could be better, and my consistency with the glue could be better but i was actually very impressed with my first leather chord wrapped grip. I liked it so much, I started showing it to people, and  Decided that I wanted to keep it because it's awesome, and  It's a fully functional and highly durable non maa cold steel grosse messer eith a brown italian lambhyde leather chord wrapped handle with 3 risers for extra grip qnd leverage. Risers are perfectly placed, and  I'm very proud of the placement of risers.  This leather cord wrap grip is not only super ergonomical, but  It made all handle components extra secure,   And pretty much made it extra durable.  I wrapped and glued a first layer of jute twine around handle qnd pommel not only for grip, but for security of hilt components,    And I trust my customized cold steel grosse messer  More than I do any other cold steel grosse messer, period.  I like it so much, I  Decided to keep it.  I did all that work so I could sell itAnd feel good about selling it to someone, only to decide to keep it in the end.  I like this sword alot more now, than I ever have,   And I already like the blade alot.  The finish on these $200 masters is excellent at the price range.  I guess you we consider it a full flat grind with a mirror Polish. Finish  Is excellent and I love the mirror polish.  Sword has great balance, point if balance around 3 inch mark, maybe under. This is such a beautiful blade,   And that's another reason I chose to work on it for so long, and  Put so much effort into it.  I didn't want this blade to go to waste.  I'm very happy with the fruits of my labor,   I spent $200 3 months preparing, and 2 weeks refining and 2 days working on this,   And I will not Let it go so easily. I guess I'm listing it to gauge interest and  To show people My very 1st leather cord wrapped grip.  Although the seams of my wraps will get better,   I am very proud of the job I did. READ THE DISCLAIMER AT  BOTTOM WHERE KULT OF ATHENA WARNS ABOUT LOOSE CROSSGUARDS IN THEIR DESCRIPTION FORTHIS SWORDSo I worked on this handle for about a week. I first did a few rough drafts just to see how the first layer of jute twine might effect size of handle, and to determine where to place risers etc. After that, is when I began. It took 3 months of preparation and learning, 1 month gathering materials, 1 week doing rough drafts and refining materials and method, then it took me 2 days,   from the moment I started gluing and wrapping first later of jute twine around handle, to the moment I unwrapped the 2nd layer of jute twine around the finished leather handle to reveal a leather chord wrapped grip...with 3 risers 😎 I starting wrapping first layer of jute twine around the wooden handle at 8pm one night, finished at 10 PM. I then went out the next day to the shed to mark and place my risers, begin the leather wrapping itself. I spent 45 minutes using many one handed and 2 handed trips to determine placement of risers, cut a few strips of leather lace, glued them around my Mark's on the handle. I then measured and cut a piece of brown veg tanned lambhyde leather to desired length and width, skived edges, soaked it, and tried to wrap first piece. I then ripped first piece for stretching way too hard.  I had to repeat  That process 3 more times,   Go through 3 more pieces of leather  before finally Closing my seem on 4th piece of leather. I started at 4pm, and at 9pm I finally got to start on the 2nd layer of jute twine.  the 2nd layer of Jute twine was to tool the veg tanned lambhyde leather qnd form deeper chord impressions.  I got done the 2nd layer of jute twine at 10 PM, and  I tied it off to the vice grip went inside.  I came back the next day 24 hours later, after the 2nd episode of Game of Thrones to unwrap the 2nd layer of twine and  To see if I had succeeded. my friend was with me when I unwrapped it and  We were both very impressed, and  My friend is very cynical, and hard to please, and he liked it alot, and started swing it around in backyard.  I was so shocked that I had succeeded on my first try,   I showed it to an owner of a high end messer shop in Hungary,   He said it was absolutely not bad for my first try, and  Gave me some tips in howto make it better.  I was flattered to even get an "absolutely not bad"  From a guy like him, and  The more I looked at this messerr and the more I had it,   I decided that I would keep it. I want to keep this, In the reason I am placing the price so high, is because  Of all the money I spent and all the time I spent working on it.  The sword is still unused, blade and scabbard are in great condition, and  Now all the Hilt components are more secure then any other brand new c.steel messer u will find.  I have done light abuse testing  Smacking the face of the blade up against books. Im very very confident in the durability of this piece, and  I can practically guarantee the integrity of my work, and assure you  This is a better sub 300 option than any other messer outthere. Condor is good optiontoo though probably but  I have no experience but I'm sure condor made a tough sword.  Hand made, handcrafted brown leather lambhyde leather grip with  Extra security added to the hilt components.  I highly recommend to anyone, especially fans of handmade stuff and messersOverall Length: 42 1/4 In  Blade: 32"Blade: 1055 High Carbon SteelWeight: 3 lb 8 ozEdge:  Very SharpP.O.B.: 3 1/2 ''Thickness: 4.7 mm - 4.3 mmWidth: 44.3 mm - 49 mmGrip Length: 10''Grip material- italian veg tanned lamb hyde leather, and jute twine permanently fixed underneath for extra securityGrip color- brownPommel: Threadedclassic features a hand-forged blade of 1060 carbon steel that’s so sharp we’ve used it to split a telephone book in half, with a single blow! The guard and pommel are made from blued steel and feature rosewood handle scales strongly riveted to the sword’s full tang.Known throughout Germany as the Big Knife, the Grosse Messer hails from central and northern Europe where, in far off days of old, noblemen and peasants alike relied on it to protect hearth and home from the ravages of brigands, cut throats, outlaws and other assorted characters of ill repute. Due to its stout, wide blade and generously sized handle, it could be wielded in one or both hands and was capable of shearing through chain mail or cutting a man in half with a single strike. Features a hand forged blade of sharpened 1050 high carbon steel. The guard and heavy pommel are made from blued steel and feature rosewood handle scales riveted to the swords full tang. For convenience and safety, the Grosse Messer comes with a strong, handsome scabbard crafted from wood and covered in black leather. It is reinforced with a steel chape and throat that has been blued to match the guard and pommel.Kult of athena warningThis sword tends to have a guard that is slightly loose. Unfortunately, this issue is so common that seems to effect the majority of them. We are no longer trying to quality control these out, so please keep this in mind when ordering. This can not be considered a defect and we can not exchange them for this issue.
