Vintage Handpainted Indian Marriage Chest
This auction is for a very interesting Indian Marriage Chest.
I am not too sure of it's age but it has been expertly painted with Mughal figures of a bride and groom to the top, front, back and sides of the chest.
The top of the chest lifts up to reveal a mirror and three compartments which form a shelf which pulls out with two dummy drawers beneath.
The front of the chest drops down via a metal clip, to reve...al the two dummy drawers and four further drawers which open and close.
The interior of the chest is also nicely painted in a shade of burnt orange with black and gold.
The painting to the top of the chest is rubbed in places but otherwise in very good condition.
It is quite a heavy piece and measures 27 cm wide x 19.6 cm deep x 19.2 cm high when closed.
It sits on 4 small wooden feet.
