Vintage Poly AM/FM Water Resistant Radio With Analog Clock, Model 2288,
Item History & Price
WHO AM I? I am a clock collector (and amateur horologist) among other things. Collecting clocks, repairing them (and other things) is a hobby for me and my wife, and selling my excess is part of the hobby. My wife and I are retired senior citizens and while we are not rich, making a living selling on eBay is not ...a realistic objective. Making $5 or $10 for my time (can buy a meal at Burger King for that) is fine. All items I sell are typically items I would want for myself, or that other people might enjoy. Some of the items have been in my collection.
I consider myself an honest seller and I always try to thoroughly describe the condition of each item, as this item is not returnable for any reason. Being a used item, it is sold as is, with no warranty.FEATURES OF THIS ITEM:
This clock radio takes four AA batteries, one to operate the clock mechanism, and three to operate the radio.9 3/8" long, 5.5" wide as measured at widest point, 2.25" deep,
14.6 oz weight without batteries.
This beautiful vintage white clock/radio with blue accent dials and clock background will look good in your bathroom or elsewhere.
Additional Features:- Radio with AM/FM modes, - AM 540-1600 KHz, - FM 88 - 108 MHz,
- Second hand - Convenient holes on the rear of the clock to easily mount to the wall.
- Pull out kick stand to allow clock/radio to stand on a flat surface (see picture)- water resistant (not water proof)
The clock is made in China. Vendors name is POLY. There is a sticker (12-90) that I assume is the date of manufacture, i.e. December 1990.
CLOCK/RADIO'S CONDITION:
The clock/radio has been tested for at least 48 hours by me and is working. It keeps good time being quartz controlled. The radio tunes correctly to both AM and FM stations and volume control works correctly. Because this radio doesn't have an external adjustable antenna, it must be positioned manually to pick up the strongest possible signals. The clock/radio is in excellent external condition, with no ugly scratches or dents on frame or front of clock window. The outer frame is made of plastic and the front clock window appears to be made of plastic. Being a used item, it might have a few light scratches.
There was a little bit of battery corrosion when I purchased this clock, but I have completely cleaned out the battery corrosion using acetic acid (aka Vinegar) and everything inside the battery compartment works correctly and looks nice, IMO.While testing this clock/radio, I noticed an issue with correctly inserting the batteries. The bottom AA battery MUST be inserted correctly (it needs to be seated all the way down) otherwise the top battery will not properly fit and make contact. I had to use a small flat screw driver to gently push the bottom battery correctly into place until it seated flat at bottom.
Batteries are not included in this sale.See pictures as they are part of the description.
