Here’s a vintage casting reelfor the collector. From my personal reel collection is a Shakespeare MARHOFF 1964 GE level-wind bait castreel. It was manufactured by the Shakespeare Co., Kalamazoo, Michigan U.S.A. This reel dates back to 1912 but was manufactured in 1946. Thecompany, which exists today, was founded by William Shakespeare Jr. in 1897 makingthe company 123 years old.I’m rating the reel asbeing in VERY GOOD+ condition!It’s a handsome reel sporting a green head plate. T...here is wear and tearconsistent with a reel of its age. It cranks very smoothly. The reel features adjustablespool tension/drag control, a plastic removable spool arbor, dual handle knobs thatturn freely, Nickel Silver construction, and a “clicker.”Gearratio is 4:1. Line capacity is 100 Yds. 15 Lb. test line, 50 yds. with the arbor.It weighs 8 oz. The reel measures 2 ¼” in diameterand 2 ¼” across the side plates.Included is a cardboardstorage box with a Shakespeare label for reel storage purposes.
