This is a vintage Japanese ceramic tea cup known as a chawan (tea bowl) which dates to the mid Showa Era (c. 1940). This potter style is from the Oribe kilns and is signed with etched in Japanese kanji of their artists (see last picture) . It has grapes and grape leaves etched into one of the sides (see pictures 3 & 10). Great for any kind of tea or even wine and sake.This chawan measures 2 3/4" wide by 3" tall (7 x 7.5 cm...). Having been in storage for 80 years , it remains in very good condition.
