Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:30895 | Material: Lace |
Color: White |
This antique handmade mechlin Flemish bobbin lace hunting dog deer trim dates from the late 18th century. It is made of ...an off white cream color handmade mechlin Flemish bobbin lace woven with a transparent fine linen thread, outlined in a heavier thread with an open net mesh background. The design pattern is composed of a hunting scene with a hound dog in chase after a stag deer along with decorative scrolls and cartouches. This lovely lace dress trim has two matching strips both featuring a pair of dogs and deer, each measuring 28 inches long, 22 inches long and are 3 inches wide. It is in good as-is condition, has not been cleaned with only a few faint tiny age spot stains, a tiny hole near the top edging with small fraying and cut ends (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and amazing piece of early handmade lace art!
