A problem came up in 1866 when the United States Congressgave all the land in Pahute County that was west of the Colorado River to thestate of Nevada. Arizona Territoryprotested but could not get the governm...ent to change its mind. Effectively Pahute County was reduced toless than half its original size. It was not until 1871 that the TerritorialLegislature rescinded the act that created the county and restored theremaining portion to Mohave County.
This map which shows Pahute County was entered into theLibrary of Congress in Washington DC in 1872 after Pahute County no longerexisted.
Great map which shows Arizona Territory with only 5 countiesincluding Pahute which was gone in 1872. No railroads yet and only a few major wagon roads. Phoenix, Yuma and Flagstaff did not existback then. Also includes a county map for New Mexico.
15.25 inches by 12.5 inches nothing printed on the back. Some chipping along the top edge and somesmall tears but they do not affect the printed portion of the map. See scans and photo EBAY watermarks not on map.
