Format: 35 mm | Model: Nikon F |
Type: SLR | Focus Type: Manual |
Here we have one of the very first Nikon F's ever manufactured - sometime between March 1959 and January 1960. Considering it's sixty years old, it's in remarkable condition. Correct standard Nikon prism. Comes with a Type B focusing screen - Matte/Fresnel.
The body has a few small dents - notably on the prism - and a few scratches - notably on the bott...om plate. There is wear at the strap attachment points. Some of the fabric covering is slightly curled - notably on the top front panels on both sides. The rails around the prism holder have been cut out for use with the later Photomic T series of meter/prisms - probably not by Nikon.
The back plate removes easily. The pressure plate is in good condition. The early titanium shutter curtain is very slightly wavy - there appear to be no pinholes. The shutter travels smoothly and fully.
The camera seems to be in good working order. All the shutter speeds sound "right" when tripped - from 1sec to 1000th. The winder is stiff at the far end. The self timer works.
The mirror and box work just fine - with that mellow, warm Nikon F sound. The foam cushion for the mirror has deteriorated somewhat. The mirror itself is very clean, except for some marks toward the bottom where it came in contact with the cushion.
All in all, this uber Rare Nikon is perfect for your collection.
