RARE Vintage Large Navajo Turquoise Sterling Silver Belt Buckle By David Lister

Offered here is a fantastic vintage hand wrought Navajo Sterling Silver, Turquoise and Bear Claw belt buckle for the collector. This buckle is a very nice large size measuring 3 3/4" by 2 3/4". It is signed for Navajo renowned silversmith, artisan David Lister. A mounted central Bear Claw is set next to a large Turquoise stone and surrounded by an outer row of 16 more turquoise stones and exquisite traditional designs and exquisite silver work with flowers, foliage, raised bead work an...d quarter moon cut-outs with a gorgeous hand tooled edge.
This buckle will fit a 1 3/4" wide belt. It is signed D K LISTER.
The buckle retains the original aged patina and is in very good pre-owned condition. This buckle weighs 77.3 grams.
David Lister biography
The Lister family, with Alice Lister and David Lister at the helm, are one of the most highly regarded families of Navajo jewelry makers working today; their renowned pieces in turquoise and sterling silver represent meticulous traditional methods and both traditional and contemporary designs. Living on the vast Navajo Reservation in northeastern Arizona, David Lister and Alice Lister, both silversmiths, have practiced their artistry together for thirty-five years, passing their craft on to four of their daughters, including their youngest, Davida Lister, who lives and works with them and Dee Nez.Silversmiths Alice and David Lister, who helm one of today's most highly regarded families of Navajo jewelers. The couple married in 1972 and has been making silver and gold jewelry together since 1975.
