This is a pair of very rare and magnificent carved moonstone "man in the moon" earrings. But here's what's really special: One is a man in the moon and one is a lady in the moon (there are subtle differences, including the man's eyebrows and cleft chin)! The craftsmanship of the carved moon faces is superb and detailed and they're surrounded with lovely seed pearls and encased in small gold medallions with a nice rich patina. They likely date to the Victorian era.&nbs...p; The earrings are on screw backs stamped 1/20 -12K G.F. and can easily be converted to ear wires or posts, if desired. In excellent vintage condition.
